He was under the care of the devoted and caring staff of Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center at Defiance, Ohio. Tom is survived by his son, Craig Thomas Bailey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Kay Diane Anderson. They were married on July 27, 1957. Surviving, cherished and loved siblings are John H. (Jack) Bailey of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Richard J. Bailey, DeLand, FL, Edward R. Bailey, Delphos, Ohio and Nancy A. Bailey Hennel, Delphos, Ohio. Another brother, Robert L. Bailey, Hicksville, Ohio died June 17, 1975. He will also be dearly missed by his beloved canine companions, “the girls“, Mollie and Amy and many other cherished relatives, nieces, nephews and friends. He graduated from Hicksville High School in 1957 and served US Army active duty starting in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1962, stationed at Fort Knox and Fort McClellan, receiving medals for Good Conduct and Expert carbine and M-1. He was an administrative clerk with rank of E4. His service was lengthened due to the Cuban missile crisis and served reserve duty at Bryan, Ohio. Tom retired from General Motors at Defiance, Ohio in 1994 where he was employed for 26 years as a millwright. He was an avid hunter, enjoying many western trips with friends and a member of Eagles Lodge, Paulding, Ohio, American Legion Post 223, Hicksville, Ohio and NRA. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hicksville with Fr. Stephen Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00-8:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, with military honors accorded by Hicksville American Legion Post 223. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice.
