Description	:	Thomas Wise, citizen of Francesville and vicinity for forty-six years, died in his home here early Sunday morning, after a few days sickness. He was one of the oldest of the group who came here almost half a century ago, and was known as one of the later pioneers. Had he lived until July he would have been 89 years of ago. Thomas Mathew Wise was born in Jefferson county near Madison, Indiana, July 8, 1851, the son of Henry Harrison Wise and Mary Ann Boundrant. In 1872 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Downs, who passed away in 1874. To them was born a daughter who passed away in 1875. In 1878 he was married to Lorena Davis, who passed away May 1, 1904. To this union were born three children--Harry H. Wise, Zora Burget and Zena Hubbard. The latter preceded her father in death on July 14, 1929. In 1906 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Sarah Esther Prewitt. She preceded him in death on December 23, 1932. Living to the venerable age of 88 years, Mr. Wise had often expressed his desire to be called to his long rest. On Sunday morning, April 14, 1940, he passed to the Great Beyond. He leaves to mourn his departure his son, Harry H. Wise of Miami, Indiana; and daughter, Mrs. Zora Burget of Francesville, Indiana. Also two grandchildren--Everette B. Burget of Chicago, Illinois, and Mrs. Edward Ream of Bunker Hill, Indiana; and one great grandson, Donald Mathew Burget of Francesville, Indiana. He also leaves many other relatives and a host of friends in this community to whom he was affectionately known as "Uncle Tom", and who will miss his regular visits uptown and his cheery greeting to everyone.
