Description	:	Thomas Michael Casey, son of John C. and Annie E. Cline Casey, was born in Pleasant Township, Cass County, Iowa, on October 19, 1879. He lived his early life in Pleasant Township, moving with his family to Omaha, Nebraska, in 1890. Thomas worked in the construction for the Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition held in Omaha in 1898. He moved back to Iowa in 1904 settling in Victoria Township. Read More	Thomas Michael Casey, son of John C. and Annie E. Cline Casey, was born in Pleasant Township, Cass County, Iowa, on October 19, 1879. He lived his early life in Pleasant Township, moving with his family to Omaha, Nebraska, in 1890. Thomas worked in the construction for the Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition held in Omaha in 1898. He moved back to Iowa in 1904 settling in Victoria Township. On June 21, 1911, Thomas was united in holy matrimony to Mary Kathleen Dwyer, daughter of John and Mary White Dwyer at Holy Name Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Mary was born in Omaha on August 15, 1890, and grew to womanhood there. After finishing school she was employed as a dressmaker until her marriage. She was very accomplished at her trade, designing and constructing clothing for her children and grandchildren into her later years. Thomas served his community as a telephone director and sat on the Board of Education for many years. After their marriage, Thomas and Mary farmed in Victoria Township on the land now owned by their son, Joseph, where they raised six children. John T. Casey (wife, Melva Harris) farmed in the Massena vicinity until retiring. They are the parents of Barbara (Mrs. Jack Brown), Patricia (Mrs. Dennis Hohn), Rose (Mrs. Louis J. Holste), Mary (Mrs. Ronald Juhler), and John C. Casey. Kathleen Marie (Mrs. Terrence Waters) taught in rural schools in the area until her marriage. She made her home in Massena until her death in 1976. Although Kathleen officially retired from teaching when she married, she spent long hours each day helping her seven children with their lessons. They were Michael, Beth (Mrs. Larry Mills), Timothy, Jean (Mrs. Charles Holste), Joan (Mrs. Larry Carr), William Patrick, and Kim (Mrs. Ted Wood). Rose Mary (Mrs. Don McLaren) worked in Omaha for eight years after graduating from Massena High School. Don and Rose Mary farmed in the Massena area until moving to Atlantic, Iowa. Don was the Cass County Assessor for many years. Their children are Daniel, Paul, Marily Sue (Susie, Mrs. Ron Simon), Richard, and Charles. Joseph Vincent (wife, Mildred "Polly" Parrott) farmed and was employed at C&M Community School until he retired. Their children are Joanne (Mrs. Lee Arrellano), Phillip, Patrick, Margaret (Mrs. Mike Darling), Teresa (Mrs. Mike Johnson), and Vincent. Elizabeth Ann "Betty" graduated from Massena High School and received degrees in elementary education from St. Mary's College and U.N.O. in Omaha. She taught in Valley, Nebraska, Wiota, and Massena Elementary Schools before moving to Atlantic, where she was employed at Washington elementary for more than 25 years. Over the years Elizabeth has been honored with a number of awards for excellence in education. Thomas David (wife, Donna Angus) served in the United States Army and was employed at the Massena Post Office for many years, both as a rural deliveryman and Postmaster. Tom and Donna made their home in Massena. They have been blessed with five children, Maureen (Mrs. Kevin Rasmussen), Michael, James, Robert, and Eileen.
