Description	:	From the Nance County Journal, transcribed by Linda Berney: Thomas Powers, son of Michael and Ellen Powers, was born at Pleasant Hill, near Clarks, Nebr., Oct.22, 1883, and died at his late home near Opportunity, Holt County, Nebr., Nov. 14, 1918, age 34 years and 17 days. He grew to manhood at the place of his birth. He was married near Fairmont, Nebr., Nov. 26, 1908 to Miss Theda Sowl and to this union three children were born, two daughters and one son, all of whom are yet living. Read More	From the Nance County Journal, transcribed by Linda Berney: Thomas Powers, son of Michael and Ellen Powers, was born at Pleasant Hill, near Clarks, Nebr., Oct.22, 1883, and died at his late home near Opportunity, Holt County, Nebr., Nov. 14, 1918, age 34 years and 17 days. He grew to manhood at the place of his birth. He was married near Fairmont, Nebr., Nov. 26, 1908 to Miss Theda Sowl and to this union three children were born, two daughters and one son, all of whom are yet living. He lived during the greater part of his life near the place of his birth. In April 1915 he moved to the place of his late home in Holt county, where he spent the remainder of his life. The deceased distinguished himself as a farmer and stock raiser. He was highly esteemed for his uprightness and honesty in his dealings, and his high moral character He was a true husband and father. He was affiliated with the Catholic church in his boyhood days, his parents being members of that church. He leaves a wife, three children, three brothers, three sisters and many other relatives, with a host of friends who are made sad because of his departure. His brother and sisters are Mary McNamara of St. Louis, Mo., Wm. Powers and Bryan Powers of Palmer, Nebr., Michael Powers of Spalding, Nebr., and Miss Katherine and Miss Margaret Powers of Palmer, Nebr. The bereft family has the tender sympathy of the entire community. May the gracious Heavenly Father tenderly care for the bereft widow and three children who are of tender age. The body was shipped to Fullerton and a funeral service was conducted at the home of Mrs. Sowl in Fullerton by A. D. Davis, pastor of the Methodist Church in the presence of a goodly company of relatives and friends of the deceased. The body was buried in the cemetery at Pierce Chapel, 8 miles south east of town near the place where he was born and reared.
