| Description | : | Revolutionary War Militia General, US Congressman, US Senator. During the Cherokee Indian War, he served in the Virginia Militia and single handedly captured Baron Des Onnes, a French emissary sent to stir up trouble between the British and Cherokees. In 1760, he moved to Eutaw Springs, South Carolina and was made a justice of the peace in 1766. In the Revolutionary War, he was Colonel of The Regiment, Continental Line, in 1778.
