He had been ill only a short time and it was a shock to his friends to hear of his death. Mr. Wright was married to Huldah J. Mechem on June 10, 1852. Wright was born in Belmont County, OH on Dec 19, 1927 and died in Holton at four o'clock Tuesday morning Nov 30, 1897. He had been ill only a short time and it was a shock to his friends to hear of his death. Mr. Wright was married to Huldah J. Mechem on June 10, 1852. Two years later they moved to Bureau County, IL where they lived two years. They then moved to Henry County in the same state and remained there twenty-six years.Mr. Wright was engaged in farming during this time. In 1882 the family located in Holton and have lived here continually since. Mr. and Mrs. Wright were the parents of seven children, four of whom, with their mother, survive Mr. Wright. All live in this county and were with their father during his illness. They are Mrs. A. Allard, Addison, Lulu and Arthur. The two latter are graduates of the city schools, and Miss Lulu has been a successful teacher in them. Arthur has been compelled by ill health to remain at home for the last few years. For many years Mr. Wright has been a faithful attendant at the Christian Church and was never happier than when learning the success and progress of the gospel of Christ. He was a man of decided convictions and was possessed of a generous and unselfish nature. In all enterprises at home and abroad he took an earnest interest. He gained the esteem respect of all who knew him and the affection of May. The funeral services were held at the Christian Church on Thursday at 2 p.m., conducted by the pastor, Rev O.L. Cook. To his bereaved family is the consolation that he was taken after he had rounded out the fullness of his life when he was ready to receive the "Well done!" of his Master." His burial record is listed in the book "Monumental inscriptions, from Jackson County, Kansas, Cemeteries" by Alan Gardiner, 1981 ...Holton Cemetery, Holton, Jackson, KS
