He was born June 23, 1914 in Hawkins county, Tenn., the son of Frnklin and Lula Johnson Harris. In came to Iowa in 1938 and worked on farms in the Wyoming area until his marriage to Bernelta Bahnsen Oct. 16, 1939. The couple lived in Persia, Tenn. before returning to Iowa. Mr. Harris farmed in Cedar, Johnson and Jones counties until his death. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Raymond of Festus, MO., Art of Monrovia, Calif. and Donnie of Iowa City; three daughters, Dorothy of Cedar Rapids and Joyce and Becky at home, and two grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Ezell Sherrell of Ventura, Calif., Mrs. Ed Schmidt of Saginaw, Mich., and Mrs. Clarence Self of Churchill, Tenn., and seven brothers, Jesse, Francis and Herbert of Whitesburg, Tenn., Luther of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Claude of Bulls Gap, Tenn., Jimmie of Kingsport, Tenn., and Dwight of Warren, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter. Pallbearers were Lafayette Bahnsen, Jay Bahnsen, John Bahnsen, John Wurst, Kenneth Hammond and Donald Buchholtz.
