Hayden Funeral Home, Wyoming, was in charge of arrangements. Bernelta Bahnsen was born June 10, 1920 at Vlascity, Minn., the daughter of John and Laura Schumann Bahnsen. She received her education in the Owatonna, Minn. Schools, where she graduated in June 1938. On Oct. 16, 1939, she married Thornton Jack Haris at Davenport. The couple made their home at Heck Town, Tenn. In 1941, they returned to Iowa and settled in Wyoming, where she was a homemaker. After her husband's death on Dec. 3, 1967, she worked at various jobs in Wyoming. In 1978, she moved to Cedar Rapids, where she worked as a provisional clerk at Rockwell-Collins for 13 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Gloria Dei Luthern Church at Cedar Rapids, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Wyoming. Survivors inclue three daughters, Dorothy (Michael) Hampton of Marion, Joyce (Steven) Lucas of Vinton and Rebecca Harris and fiance, Richard Hootman of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Raymond Harris and fiance Helen Timme of Arnold, MO. Arthur (sharon) of Bloomington, Calif and Donald Harris of Marion; eight grndchildren, three gret-grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Hammond of Davenport and Betty Wurst (John) on Onslow; and two brothers, Jay Bahnsen of Davenport and John (Judie) Bahnsen of Anamosa. In addition to her husband, Thornton, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, one grandson and one brother.
