Officiating at the service was Rev. Ralph Ford. Tressie E. George died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at the Oakland Memorial Hospital at the age of 85 years. The organist for the service was Beverly Preston. Casket bearers were her grandsons Sean George, Cody George, Derek George, James Hedges, Sam Fletcher, Kevin Roscoe and Dan Roscoe. Ralph Ford. Tressie E. George died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at the Oakland Memorial Hospital at the age of 85 years. The organist for the service was Beverly Preston. Casket bearers were her grandsons Sean George, Cody George, Derek George, James Hedges, Sam Fletcher, Kevin Roscoe and Dan Roscoe. Burial was in the Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, Neb. Tressie E. George was born November 11, 1919, on the Roscoe family farm west of Lyons, Neb., to Franklin and Alice (Praisewater) Roscoe. Tressie attended school at District 63, Neary School, and graduated from Lyons High School in 1937. She attended the University of Nebraska for two years and later in life attended Wayne State Teacher's College. During World War II, as many of the women did, Tressie worked at Tacoma, Wash. and the Martin Bomber Plant, which is now Offutt Air Base. She returned to Lyons in 1956 and worked at the Lyons Creamery, City Offices and the Flower Hut. Tressie was an active member of the Untied Methodist Church in Lyons. She was also very active in many community organizations and activities, which included the Art Club, Genealogy Club and the Centennial Book of Lyons. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Isabel Robertson and Marjorie Roscoe and brother, Milton Roscoe. Survivors include her sons: Doug (Barb) George of Lyons and Greg (Betty) George of Fremont, Neb.; daughters: Pam Hedges and Cynthia George both of Lyons; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and sister; Marion Alice Giesing of Prairie Village, Kan. -The Lyons Mirror-Sun, 02 Jun 2005
