Berlin Early Kent Merchant, Conducted Thursday The thinning ranks of Kent pioneers lost another member last week in the death of Trevanion Nicholas Berlin, early Kent business man, who died Tuesday, Decemeber 24, at his home at 412 Scenic Way following a long illness. Mr. Berlin, who was 85 years of age, had been an invalid for most of the last 25 years and his death was hastened by a recent attack of the flu. Services were conducted last Thursday afternoon at two o'clock in the chapel of the Chittenden Funeral Home with theRev. W. E. Callhan officiating. Burial was in the Kent cemetery. Mr. Berlin was widely-known throughout the community as one of Kent's pioneer merchants. He was associated with Berlin Bros. general merchandise stores in both Sumner and Auburn as well as Kent. In 1898 Mr. Berlin went to Alaska where he remained for a year. He was one of three men who went to take 100 head of steers up to the Territory. Mr. Berlin was born November 14, 1955, at Pittsburgh. In addition to his widow, Frances of Kent, he is survived by two brothers, A. N. and J. B. Berlin, both of Kent; a sister, Mrs. B. Lumsden of Grants Pass, and by a number of nephews and nieces. Pallbearers for the funeral were H. B. Madison, J. C. Clark, William Boundy, John Soule, Allen Oliver and J. W. Bush."
