Description	:	SIMMERING FUNERAL Funeral services for Mrs. J. J. Simmering, one of the early pioneers of Hastings, were held from the Lutheran Church west of Glenvil Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Goede in charge and his son assisting. Burial was at the church cemetery. A short prayer service was held at the home, 409 north Colorado avenue before the funeral party proceeded to the church. Burial was at the church cemetery. A short prayer service was held at the home, 409 north Colorado avenue before the funeral party proceeded to the church. Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. George Classen of this city sang. Part of the service was in German and part in English. Six nephews of Mrs. Simmering were pallbearers. they were Siebelt Goldenstein, Siebelt and John Itzen, Siebelt Hinrichs - and Rudolph and Louis Goldenstein. Mrs. Simmering came to the United States from Germany when she was 7 years of age and with her family settled in Illinois about 1867. Shortly thereafter she moved to Glenvil and there was married to J. J. Simmering, who died 8 years ago. She was 66 years of age. Mrs. Simmering was at one time sheriff of Adams county and was later prominent in the real estate and insurance business. Mrs. Simmering is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edwin Stratton, Hastings, and two sons, S. L. of Boulder, Colo., and John of Hastings. S. L. Simmering is a member of the faculty of the college at Boulder, Colo. The eldest son, Fred, died about two years ago.
