He was born October 26th, 1938 to Cecil and Dixie Cox. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty (Hager). Troy is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Cecil Jr., Jessie, Carl, Dale, and Finis, and his son Jerry. He is survived by his siblings Clois (Connie), Nola May (Herschel), Dwight Cox (Sharon); his daughters, Annette Conley (Joe) and Denise Tyler (Jay); his daughter-in-law, Bernadette Cox; 7 grandchildren, Suzanne Wilson (David), Lucas Cox (Magan), Candace Burtram (Adam), Coy Gordon (Jessica), Amanda Hagberg (Garrett), Sarah Emerson (Steven), and Jayson Tyler; 8 great grandchildren Trenton, Aya, Reese, Tulsa, Harmony, Anna Rose, Sonny and Eric. Troy was a devoted member of The Velvet Ridge Church of God. He served his church, family, and community with his whole heart at every opportunity he was given. He retired from 798 Pipeliner’s Union in 1999. Although he was “retired” he refused to stop working. He rose early everyday to read his Bible, watch the news, and start his day making his property and everyone’s around him look the very best it could, or work on a project. He also was an excellent farmer, and had the prettiest garden in our area. He took pride in his work and his family, and nothing brought him anymore joy than seeing his family serve the Lord and work hard in any aspect. To know him was to call him friend. He will be missed by all who knew him, but because of him this community is a better and beautiful place to be a part of. Honey Holler will never be the same as we will always miss who we affectionately called “The Mayor”. He loved having a hand in keeping the local cemetery looking good, and the fellowship that he shared with whom he called his “old man friends” as they worked on the cemetery grounds. There will be a private family graveside at the Velvet Ridge Cemetery.
