Description	:	Truman Edgar Averill was born near Webster City, Ia., October 3, 1854. He lived there until the family emigrated to Fillmore County, Nebraska in November, 1873, homesteading near the present site of Ohiowa. From the time he was old enough, he helped in the support of the family as was the custom of that day, until his majority. August 24, 1879, he was married to Anna E. Read More	Truman Edgar Averill was born near Webster City, Ia., October 3, 1854. He lived there until the family emigrated to Fillmore County, Nebraska in November, 1873, homesteading near the present site of Ohiowa. From the time he was old enough, he helped in the support of the family as was the custom of that day, until his majority. August 24, 1879, he was married to Anna E. Cane at her home near Alexandria, Neb. To this union was born one daughter, Edna Lois Averill, April 26, 1884. After farming several years the family moved to Ohiowa, where Mr. Averill engaged in the general merchandise business in which he was quite successful. After retiring from business, he lived at the residence in Ohiowa until his death which occurred August 2, 1941, aged 86 years and 10 months. He was preceded in death by both his daughter Edna, who died June 10, 1905, and wife Anna, May 29, 1938. He leaves two brothers and one sister, A. L. Averill and E. N. Averill and Mata Williamson, all of Ohiowa, a number of nephews and nieces and a great many friends. He was a member of the old First Baptist Church of Ohiowa and was the superintendent of the Sunday school for many years. He bore with great patience his double afflictions, having been blind and death for the last two years. Thus ends the life of a grand old man. Friends who learned to know Mr. Averill through his wide business associations, never spoke of him except in kindly terms. His sterling character and honesty made friends everywhere. The funeral, a morning service, was held from the Methodist Church Monday at 10:30 o'clock, the pastor, Rev. A. W. Ahrendts, officiating. Texts were Second Timothy 4:8 and Ecc. 12: 7. A quartet sang "No Night There" and "Jesus Savior Pilot Me." The quartet comprised Lee Lynn, Mrs. F. S. Zuver, Mrs. B. F. Grant and Dr. E. C. Skinner. Rev. Mr. Ahrendts sang "There's a Calm." the flowers were in charge of Mrs. J. C. Theobald and Mable Arneke. Casket bearers were Fred Wolter, Fred Shultz, E. D. Drummond, James Hennessey, E. Silvey and Lester Goodman. burial was in the Ohiowa Cemetery.
