Sampson, 76, for the past 42 years a respected resident of Henry County passed away at his home southwest of the city Saturday following a long illness. The past four years Mr. Sampson has been in poor health and for two years he has been bedfast most of the time having suffered a complication of ills. The farm on which the Sampsons live is located south of Faulkners bridge and that has been their home since coming to this county a great many years ago. He is survived by his widow, three sons, Gustavus A., James S. and Hiram T.; also one daughter, Mrs. Roy White; all living within a few miles of the Sampson home. Funeral services were held at the residence this afternoon at 1:30 and interment was made in the Oakland cemetery. ["Mt. Pleasant News", Monday, November 26, 1928, Page 1]
