"Joe" Kosmacek, 81, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Rosebrook Care Center in Edgar. "Rosary is 9:30 a.m. and services are 10 a.m. Saturday, both at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese with the Rev. Dennis Hunt officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Blue Hill Cemetery at ,Blue Hill. Williams Funeral Home in Edgar is in charge of arrangements. "Mr. Kosmacek was born April 15, 1922, to Frank and Mary (Lukas) Kosmacek at Spring Ranch. He graduated from Antioch School in 1936. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-46 where he was a technical sergeant stationed at Camp Polk, La.; Camp Cooke, Calif.; and Fort Knox, Ky. He landed in England with the 11th Armored Division under the command of General George Patton and fought in France, Belgium and Germany with combat in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. When he returned home, he lived and farmed near Glenvil until 1991. Due to failing health, he moved to Rosebrook Care Center in Edgar. "Joe Kosmacek was a seed corn dealer, school and township board member, and an antique tractor collector. He also was a member of Fairfield American Legion for more than 50 years and was a member of Deweese Veterans of Foreign Wars. "Survivors are two brothers, Frank of Jansen and Rudy of Marietta, Ga.; and three sisters, Agnes Haba of Lawrence, Mary Witte of Hastings and Dorothy Kosmacek of Glenvil. "In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family."
