Read More	Publication: Hyannis Patriot; Date: Mar 29, 1909; Section: None; Page: 2 Death of Tully Crosby Tully Crosby, a descendant of Tully Crosby,who emigrated to this country from England and was one of the early settlers,died at his home in Brewster on Thursday last,after a short illness of pneumonia. Mr Crosby was born in South Boston, Aug 21, 1841 and at the age of three years removed with his parents to Brewster,where he was educated,also attending school at the Hyannis academy. Upon reaching manhood he followed the sea,as his father had done before him,rising to the command of a ship.He retired from the sea in 1875 and in 1883 commenced the study of law in Boston University and was admitted to the bar to practice October 14,1887. He was selectman of Brewster being elected to that position in 1890; he was in the legislature in 1885,serving as the clerk on the committee on education;after the death of Eben F Paine,town clerk and treasurer,he served the town in that capacity temporarily, until a permanent treasurer was elected. Mr Crosby was a special Justice of the Second District Court and as a surveyor had surveyed many important tracts of land on Cape Cod.His practice was principally in the probate court, in the settlement of estates,in many instances of which he was executor or administrator. In his death the town of Brewster loses a citizen of worth.He was an active member of the Pilgrim Club,and served as its secretary,and was much interested in Cape Cod history. The funeral of Mr Crosby took place at his home on Sunday,conducted by Rev Asa M Bradley,pastor of the Universalist church of Spencer,a cousin.At the time of his death Mr Crosby was a trustee of the Cape Cod Five Cent Savings Bank of Harwich.He leaves one daughter, Mrs Grace Wendell of New York. additional information courtesy of RJensen in the forums.
