Description	:	Twila Settje, 71, of Creston, Nebraska, died Sunday, October 19, 2014, at the Columbus Community Hospital. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Creston, Nebraska, with Rev. Jim Ernst officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and continue on Friday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. Twila Settje was born October 9, 1943, in Princeton, Missouri, to Richard Harlan and Alta Beatrice (Cox) Stanley. She attended a one room school house in Mercer County, Missouri. She later attended Lineville Public Schools and graduated from Lineville High School in Lineville, Iowa. Twila was a high school basketball star and was offered to play professional basketball. Twila worked for several public and private firms in the Des Moines, Iowa, area as a secretary. While working for the Iowa State Health Department, Twila was introduced to Herman Settje. The couple married on March 1, 1986, at Herman’s family home in Creston. Twila worked for Donna Ritter Tax Services in Creston for over 20 years. Twila enjoyed horseback riding, traveling, camping, fishing, shopping, crocheting, crafts, and keeping up on the latest technology. She was a women of many trades and enjoyed taking on different projects on her own. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Twila is survived by: Husband – Herman “Ham” Settje of Creston, NE Daughter – Sue Welch of Ankney, IA Grandson – PV2 Larry (Nicole) Welch – stationed in Afghanistan Great Granddaughter – Arianna Welch Daughter – Sandra Stephen of Ankney, IA Daughter – Rita Moor of Altoona, IA Son – William “Billy” Settje of Des Moines, IA 7 Step-Grandchildren and 9 Step-Great-Grandchildren Brother – Gerald “Bud” Stanley of Edna, KS Brother – Bill (Sally) Stanley of Clio, IA Brother – Bob (Joan) Stanley of Nevada, IA Sister – Linda Bishop of Mitchellville, IA Twila was preceded in death by: Parents – Richard and Alta Stanley Brother – Richard Dale Stanley
