Description	:	Urban Victor "Luke" Lukavsky was born on June 11, 1928, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was a very industrious and talented young man with a great and active mind. He had multiple jobs and by the age of 14 years he paid for his own "nose job". By the age of 17 he joined the National Guard and owned two telephone companies. He was a very industrious and talented young man with a great and active mind. He had multiple jobs and by the age of 14 years he paid for his own "nose job". By the age of 17 he joined the National Guard and owned two telephone companies. Through his quest for knowledge and a project he was working on, he encountered J. Edgar Hoover and Clarence Kelly. They remained lifelong friends. Through this relationship, Luke would take care of many juvenile delinquents to keep them from prison and would help restore many who had been imprisoned. He met his beloved beautiful wife, Mary Adeline Halligan. They were wed on August 2, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The couple enjoyed dancing and outdoor activities together, In 1952, Luke purchased the Agnew Monument Co. Luke was a gifted sculpture. He was one of only two men who still hand chiseled his monuments in the United states. Mary and Luke had 13 children, 9 girls and four boys: Joan Kathleen , Christopher Michael, Thomas Joseph, Nancy Anne, Mary Jane, Timothy Lee, James Paul, Terese Yvonne, Patricia Jean, Julie Louise, Paula Suzanne, Caroline Michele and Kathleen Adeline. We all sang, played, worked and prayed together, Luke loved his wife and children. He is a faith filled man and with Mary gifted his family with is love and faith. Luke is survived by his beloved wife, Mary, his children: Joan Lukavsky, Bob Dodds, Mary Jane Nydegger, Dr. Timothy(Catalina)Lukavsky, Dr. James(Angela)Lukavsky, Terese(Brad)Weise, Patricia(Cris)Schwanebeck, Julie Grace, Paula(Steve)Wilson, Caroline(Russell)Meade. Luke was preceded in death by his sons Christopher and Thomas Lukavsky and daughters Nancy Dodds and Kathleen Lukavsky. Visitation for Luke will begin at 12 Noon on Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Knoxville. A rosary service will be held on Friday at 1 pm with much of Luke's family present. Many of Luke's family will also be present Friday evening, at the church, from 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am Saturday, October 3, 2015 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with Pastor Jacob Griener officiating. Following services burial will be held at Our Lady of Good Council Cemetery in Mooreland, Iowa. A memorial in Luke's memory has been established to the Options Pregnancy Clinic and may be directed to the family. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Luke's family with services.
