Description	:	Vaclav was the oldest of eight children born in Tabor, Bohemia to Hynek and Marie (Hrbka) Brozek. He had three brothers, Franciscus, Paulus and John, and four sisters, Emilia, Maria, Josephine and Stara. His paternal grandparents were Jozef and Marie (Machova) Brozek. On the maternal side his grandparents were Thomas and Rosalie (Zabraske) Hrbek. He was schooled to be a gardener in Europe where his father worked as a gardener on a grand estate. On the maternal side his grandparents were Thomas and Rosalie (Zabraske) Hrbek. He was schooled to be a gardener in Europe where his father worked as a gardener on a grand estate. He came to the United States in 1906 at the age of 21 and a year before his wife and children. Vaclav arrived in Galveston, Texas and records show his destination was Brenham, Texas where he quickly found work on the railroad. On his passenger manifest from the ship S.S. Koln it says he was meeting a friend in Brenham,Texas, Adolph Chlumsky. Noticing that other immigrants were leaving for Kansas and Nebraska he packed his belongings and left for Kansas arriving in the Czech settlement of Wilson. There he quickly found work and wrote to his father-in-law, Antonin Brant, asking the family to come to America. They joined him in Wilson in March 1907 having taken trains from Galveston to Wilson. Vaclav and Marie held barn dances in the loft of their barn with Vaclav playing drums and his son, James, playing the button accordion. Vaclav also owned an accordion, dark in color and with a piano keyboard that was purchased for him by his oldest daughter, Emilie. In the fall of 1947 they retired from farming and moved into a home in Lucas.
