The deceased had been very feeble all winter and realized that his time on this earth was drawing to a close. Vencel Kesl was born in Bohemia in 1825, where he was married and lived until 1858, when with his wife and children they came to America and to Tama county, where they have since resided. Seven children were born to them, all of whom remain to mourn their father. The mother preceded the father nearly a year ago. The deceased farmed near here for over twenty-four years and since then he made his home with his son Mike. Of the children four were boys and three girls; they are Vencel Kesl, of Cuba, Kansas; Joseph Kesl of Des Moines; and Martin and Mike, who live here. The girls are Mrs. Anton Kubic, of Vining, Mrs. Barbara Cuba, of Schuyler, Nebraska, and Mrs. Joseph Weaver, of Chelsea, Iowa. These were all present at the funeral. Short services were held at the home conducted by Father Klaues, of Chelsea, and the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery west of here. The sons and daughters have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
