Mr. Schindler was stricken while driving his car home from uptown in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Braband, who live next door, noticed that he was sick and immediately rushed him to the hospital. Mr. Schindler was stricken while driving his car home from uptown in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Braband, who live next door, noticed that he was sick and immediately rushed him to the hospital. He passed away that evening at the hospital. A retired farmer, Mr. Schindler was born on January 1, 1870, at Dyersville, Iowa. He was married to Hattie Dixon on April 18, 1892 at Emerson, Neb., where he had gone as a young man. Two children were born to this union and both died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Schindler farmed at Emerson until 40 years ago when they retired and moved to Le Mars. Funeral services were held on Thursday October 5th at 9:00 a. m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father L. J. LaVelle officiating. Burial was in St. James cemetery. Surviving are about 30 neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie; 2 children in infancy and one adopted son, Louis, who was killed in World War 1. A nephew, William Schindler of Fulda Minnesota, was here to make funeral arrangements. Mr. Schindler was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Six of his brother Knights acted as pallbearers. Wiltgen’s funeral home was in charge of arrangements. The remains were at Wiltgen’s on Tuesday evening and taken to the residence at 208 4th Ave S. W. on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased, passed away Tuesday, October 3, and burial services were held on Thursday, there. Mr. Schindler, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Schindler, was born at Dyersville, January 1, 1869 and received his education here. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, who passed away in May, 1948. There were no children. Among those attending the funeral services were Albert Schindler, Vitus Langel and Charles Meyer, all of Dyersville; Mr. Lawrence Schindler, and Mrs. Tony Woestmann, all of Trempleau, Wis.; Mrs. John Utzig and Mrs. Paul Billmeyer of Dubuque; Mrs. Bill Smith, Stockton, Ill.; Fred Schindler, Petin, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Will Schindler, Fulda, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kortenkamp of La Monte.
