Funeral Services are Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Federated Church in Sutton, NE with Rev Eric Biehl officiating. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery. Valerie was born November 7, 1930, at Thermopolis, WY to Leon and Sophie (Bratberg) Stiles. She was the daughter of a Methodist circuit minister and spent her early years in Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas and Arkansas. Val's family later settled in Yankton, SD. She received her education at Yankton High School in Yankton, SD and furthered her education at Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux City, IA. She met her future husband Max Gemar while finishing her nurses training in Hastings, NE. On June 5, 1953, she was united in marriage to Max in Sutton, NE and they made their home on the family farm outside of Sutton, NE. She was a member of the Federated Church, Acacia Eastern Star Chapter #39 and Sutton American Legion Auxiliary Argonne Post #61. She is survived by her children Steve and wife Niki Gemar of Sutton, NE; Gary and Jan Gemar of Austin, TX; Suzanne and husband Lee Sapp of Ashland, NE; daughter-in-law Teri Gemar of Sutton, NE; grandchildren Michelle Gemar, Mason Gemar, Lauren (Gemar) and husband Beau Davis, Lance Gemar, Brett Sapp, Conor Sapp, Sydnee Gemar and Austin Gemar; great-grandchild Sienna Gemar; brothers Kenneth Stiles of Omaha, NE; and Gwynn Stiles of Yankton, SD. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Berg Stiles and son Scott Gemar. Clay County News November 18, 2009
