Vancil was born December 29, 1924, the son of Alexander and Mabel (Richards) Rowlison in LeGrand, Iowa. He was raised in LeGrand, graduating from LeGrand High School. Following graduation, Vancil enlisted in the US Army, serving in WWII in the Battle of the Bulge. He was assigned to Co. "C" 738th Med. Tank Battalion (SP) as a Sergeant. On June 14, 1947 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Arlene Sawyer. Two daughters were born to this marriage. Vancil was employed by the LeGrand Elevator, Pillsbury Feeds, was a manager for the Green Products Feed Mill in Beaman, and also worked in sales for Trojan Seed, Merschman Seed and Ottilie Seed Farms, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks, Lions, and the Conrad United Methodist Church. Vancil enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, caring for his lawn and going out to eat. Vancil will be missed by his daughters, Kendra Rowlison and Cathy (Mark) Manning, grandchildren; Nathan (Maria) Manning, Stephanie Manning (Jaime Morales) and Trevor Rowlison, great grandchildren; Xander Manning, Alan Zazueta and Oscar Zazueta. In eternal life, Vancil joins his parent, brothers, Clarence Rowlison and Edwin Humphrey, sister, Loreita Green, and his beloved wife, Charlotte, in 2003.
