Her death occurred April 25, 1990 in the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS, after several months of failing health. Her age was 60 years, 6 months, and 9 days. Vaneta lived all her life in the Waldo Community, received her basic education in the Waldo Schools, graduating from high school with the Class of 1947. Read More	The following information was extracted from Vaneta's Funeral Card: Vaneta Iolene Wood, daughter of William Mikesell and Winifred (Elder) Austin, was born Oct. 16, 1929 at Waldo, KS. Her death occurred April 25, 1990 in the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS, after several months of failing health. Her age was 60 years, 6 months, and 9 days. Vaneta lived all her life in the Waldo Community, received her basic education in the Waldo Schools, graduating from high school with the Class of 1947. After attending summer school at Hays, she taught a rural school east of Luray, also at the West Kennebeck School near Russell and later at the Red Rock Rural School near Ulyssess. On April 21, 1952, Vaneta was married to Louis Earl Wood at Russell, KS and they made their home at Waldo. She filled her life with the many activities of a homemaker and housewife. For several years she worked as a clerk at the US Post Office at Waldo and later served as a substitute clerk on occasions. Vaneta was a member of the Amherst United Methodist Church south of Waldo and was active as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Lucas for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors are her husband Louis of the home at Waldo; brother Ronald W. Austin at Salina; and a sister Mrs. Albert (Marilee) Schuler Jr. also of Waldo; several other relatives and a host of friends. Service April 28, 1990 at Pohlman's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dallas Darling officiating. Interment in the Grand Center Cemetery, Waldo, KS.
