But through all these years of what would be depression to most people,... Read More	Coon Rapids Enterprise May 8, 1914 Miss Vava L. Graves died Friday and was laid to her final rest Monday. The deceased was born and raised in this community and had many friends both in town and country because of her lovable disposition and the bereaved family has the sincerest sympathy of the community in their affliction. Miss Graves was a sufferer of many years of a disease which gradually sapped her strength and life and from which affliction she knew she could not recover. But through all these years of what would be depression to most people, she kept her sweet spirit, being cheerful to the end. With true Christian Spirit she was resigned and cheerfully awaited the end. The following of her life has been kindly furnished us: Vava L., daughter of Andrew and Emma J. Graves, was born four miles north of Coon Rapids July 30, 1880. Here on the family Homestead she grew to womanhood. After completing her studies in the common school she took a course in the Coon Rapids High School and the state normal college at Cedar Falls. Her active days of service were given to that most noble and useful calling for what she and conscientiously and so thoroughly prepared herself a teacher in the public schools. The many calls and tokens of respect and gratitude from her pupils was a constant source of consolation during the years she could no longer continue the work she loved and enjoyed. Her noble efforts are abundantly rewarded in those she taught. Christmas Day, 1889, she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at the Star. Her devoted Christian life that began in her youth and continued without wavering was not only a joy to her home life but a lasting benediction to all who are permitted to enjoy her fellowship. The Christian graces so well mature during the trials of student and teacher life bloomed more beautifully and admitted a sweeter fragrance during the four long years of patient suffering for what she was called to pass. She was ever confident that if our earthly house be dissolved we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, Eternal in the heavens. Her happy release after years of watchful waiting occurred May 1st from the parental home in Coon Rapids. She leaves her father and mother and brother, Roy L. of Minnesota. Two brothers had already preceded her to the beyond. The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church Episcopal in Coon Rapids by her pastor, the Rev. Carl Brown, Monday afternoon May 4 and was attended by many of her friends and former pupils. Interment took place in the Coon Rapids Cemetery.
