Description	:	Mrs. Creston Swails of Clay Center, a former Nelson girl, died at Mary Lanning hospital in Hastings Thursday eevning (sic) of last week. The funeral services were held in Clay Center Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. F.C. Lewis, pastor of the Congregational church, in the presence of a large assemblage of friends including many from Nelson and Geneva. Interment was made in the family lot in Nelson cemetery (sic). Velma Roby was born January 21, 1902, at Red Cloud. At the age of foru (sic) years she moved with her arents (sic) to eNlson (sic) where in 1921 she was graduated from high school. She taught for three years in the rural schools of Nuckolls county (sic) and then went to Clay Center where she taught in the grade school for six successive years. On June 9, 1929, she was united in marriage with Mr. Creston Swails of Clay Center and their married life was happy since mutual love and confidence pervaded it. Among those who miss her most are the following: Her maternal grandmother, Mrs. W.T. Rohrer of Juniper Springs, Colo.; her mother, Mrs. Gertrude Roby Koch of St. Joseph, Mo.; her sisters, Edith and Jessie, and her brothers, John and James. As each mourner with his or her load of grief advances down the years. The husband will be found bearing the heaviest burden of all. Outside this inner circle are many who look upon her going as a deep personal loss. Not as a child, before she knew the meaning of the act, but at twenty years of age, she became a Christian and was received into the Episcopalian church. APPRECIATION For the wonderful kindness shown to us by this community in our great affliction we are more grateful than words can express. For the flowers, the tender ministrations, the sympathetic words and thoughtful deeds which were ours in such generous and loving measure, we thank you again and again.
