Description	:	OBITUARY for – Velma M. (Anderson) Stites, 90 Velma Mae Anderson Stites, 90, life long resident of Hope, went to be with her Lord on February 19th, 2009. She was born on December 2, 1918, SW of Hope, the daughter of William and Estella (Alexander) Anderson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM, Monday, February 23rd, 2009, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, with Rev. Matthew Kitchener officiating; burial will follow at the Ashton Cemetery west of Hope. Mrs. Stites managed the Hope pre-dial telephone office, and retired from the Assessor's office at the Dickinson County Court House. She graduated from Hope High School with the class of 1936. She married Floyd F. Stites on August 3, 1941, and he preceded her in death on May 17, 1996. She is the last of three (3) brothers (Harold, Elmer, and Herbert Anderson) and two (2) sisters (Dora Rogers & Eva Maupin), and also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two (2) daughters (Floy) Ann Everett (husband-Bob) of Haysville, and Diane Mae Kitchener (husband-Arnold) of Governador, Brazil; five (5) grandchildren; and five (5) great grandchildren (Mathew, Esther, Anna and Zach Kitchener of Vancouver, BC; Sarah and Danny Darrington of Wichita; Nathanael, Tracie, Owen, Elsie and Asher Kitchener of Waukesha, WI; Abigail Kitchener of Doulos Ship in the Far East; Paul Kitchener of Chicago). The family requests memorials to the AHA at Haysville First Christian Church, Cookson Hills Children's Home of Kansas-Oklahoma, or the Haysville UMW Homeless Project; and they can be sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel, 404 South Broadway, Herington, Kansas, 67449-3038.
