Description	:	Velva R. Dryer, 96 of Garnavillo, died Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, November 17, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McGregor. The Rev. David Zimmer will officiate at the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.thornburg-devries.com. Velva R. Barker was born October 22, 1915 at Monona. She was the daughter of Harrison and Florence Wilson, Barker. She received her baptism and confirmation at St. John Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. She attended school in Marquette. On October 31, 1931, she was united in marriage to Raymond J. Dryer. Velva worked as a nurses aid her entire career. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in McGregor, Eagles Club in Guttenberg, a volunteer for the Senior Citizen Meal site, hospice and the Guttenberg Care Center. She was an avid bingo player, reader and fisherman and enjoyed making noodles. She is survived by five children, Delores Kincade of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Raymond W. (Doris)Dryer of Guttenberg, Joanne (Bernie) Aulwes of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Kay (Ronald) Johsnon of Altoona, Wisconsin, Dennis (Dolly) of Nome, Alaska; 26 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren, 28 great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Raymond; one daughter, Florence Le Hew; one son, Vincent Dryer; a grandson, Brian Kincade; four sisters, and one brother. Memorials may be given in Velva's name to St. Paul Lutheran Church in McGregor or Donor's choice in lieu of flowers Arrangements & Obituary: Thornburg-DeVries Funeral Home & Cremation Service, McGregor Iowa.
