Traer Star Clipper, Friday, December 9th, 1932 page 11 Vencil Kaloupek, son of James and Catherine Kaloupek, was born in Pilsen, Bohemia, September 24, 1848, and passed away at his home in Elberon, Iowa on November 28, 1932 a t the age of 84 years. He was the son of a farmer and until he reached the age of 26 assisted his father in the operation of his farm. In December, 1874, at the age of 26, he came to America, making his home in the city of Chicago. There on the 8th day of January, 1875 he was united in marriage to Miss Lottie Deiml, with whom he had been acquainted in Bohemia and who had preceded him this country. While in Chicago Mr. Kaloupek worked in a packing plant and also as a painter. From Chicago he moved to the town of LeGrand, Iowa where he was engaged as a railroad laborer for a period of two years. Thereafter he and his family made their home on a farm near Vining where they remained four years, moving then to the town of Elberon, where Mr. Kaloupek has since resided. In the year 1921 Mr. Kaloupek journeyed to his old home In Bohemia, where for nine months he had an enjoyable visit with relatives. To Mr. Kaloupek and his wife, who survives him, there were born eleven children, three of whom passed away in infancy. Their son, Frank, who was well known in this community, met an accidental death some years ago in the town of Chelsea. The surviving children are Joseph, Emil, Charles and Mrs. A. J. Haase, all of Elberon; Edward, of Clutier; William, of Grinnell, and Mrs. G. Doose, of Minneapolis, Minnesota. All of the surviving children, with the exception of the last named, were able to be with their father in his closing days and to attend the parting services. Mr. Kaloupek ls also survived' by twenty-one grandchildren and one great grandchild. His brother, Frank, who also came to this country to make his home, passed away in Belle Plaine In 1928.
