Description	:	The daughter of Harley W. Marmon and his wife, Minnie Williams, Veneta was born on January 30, 1899 in Morrowville, Kansas. Veneta had one sister, Geneva, and two brothers, Asa and Virgil. In the 1900 Census, the family was living in Little Blue Township in Washington County, Kansas. Harley was a farmer at that time. The 1910 Census lists the Marmon family as living in Barnes Township, in Washington County. Harley was now a barber who had his own shop. On July 5, 1916, Veneta married Ernest Oetinger. In 1929, Veneta's younger sister, Geneva, would marry Ernest's brother, George. Ernest and Veneta made their home in Green, Kansas. They had three children: Donald, born in 1917; Helene, born in 1920 and Phyllis, whose birthdate is unknown at this time. The 1920 Census lists the family in Highland Township, Clay Center, Kansas. Ernest was a farmer, while Veneta took care of the home and family. In 1930, Veneta, Ernest and their children lived in Goshen Township of Clay County. Veneta was a member of the Green Methodist church and of the local HDU. She was also a charter member of the WSCS. After moving to Clay Center in 1972, the Oetingers were members of the United Methodist Church there. She also was the pianist for services at the Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center. Veneta passed away at that same Presbyterian Manor on October 24, 1989. She was 90 years old.
