They were accompanied by Edwin Beckley, brother of the bride. --Mr. Stewart is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Andy Stewart of the Leonard vicinity and is well known as an industrious and upright young man. He was in service for more than a year during the World War and was nine months overseas, serving in Company M, 351st Inf. --The bride is a daughter of B. S. Beckley and is very popular in the community in which she lives. She is a young woman of many charms and graces and will make a fitting helpmeet(sic) to the man of her choice. --The couple will probably reside in Leonard. (Contributor: Paula D) ~~~~~~~ Obituary for Vera Mabel Stewart (August 12, 1994) Services for Vera Mabel Stewart, 96, of Quincy, IL, formerly of the Leonard/Shelbyville [Missouri] area, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbyville. The Rev. Albin Covington will officiate. Burial will be at Shelbyville Memorial Cemetery at Shelbyville. Mrs. Stewart died at 9:30 a.m. August 12, 1994, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born May 27, 1898, in Shelbyville, to Benton Seymore and Mabel Hollenbeck Beckley. She was married to Charley Stewart on January 23, 1923, in Canton. He preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, Jo Anna Patterson of Quincy, IL, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred Beckley and Elwyn Beckley, and two sisters, Grace Prange and Lola Beckley. Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Berea Christian Church near Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
