She was born July 6, 1923, at Lone Tree, the daughter of Howard Megarvy and Frata Goldie Morrison Eden. She married Dorrence I. Hemmings, Feb. 14, 1944, at Fort Madison. He survives. She was born July 6, 1923, at Lone Tree, the daughter of Howard Megarvy and Frata Goldie Morrison Eden. She married Dorrence I. Hemmings, Feb. 14, 1944, at Fort Madison. He survives. She grew up in Lone Tree and in 1935 their family moved to Albia where she attended school. After granduating from Bonaparte High School in 1940, she worked at Sheaffer Pen Company, Fort Madison and attended Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant. She and her husband raised their four children on a farm northwest of Donnellson. She was devoted to her family and friends and enjoyed flowers, birds and nature. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Fort Madison. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, William H. (wife Connie) Hemmings and daughter, Brandi Hemmings, Liberty Lake, Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. Rich (Rose A.) Weitzel, Mendelem, Ill., and their children, Mathew, David, Philip and Sara Weitzel, Karen L. Bergman and her son, Joshua Berman, Mount Pleasant, S.C. and Mrs. Gary (Carol J.) Uhland, Warsaw, Ill., and her children, Kelly and Jason Weirather, two brothers, Fred Eden, Bonaparte and George Eden, Staunton, Va., and four sisters, Helen Latta, Iowa City, Gertrude Swanson, Lone Tree, Mildred Wilson, Bonaparte and Ruth Dilger, South Pasadena, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ralph. Friends may call after 1 p.m., Thursday, May 10, at Hofbauer Funeral Home, Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 11, at the First Methodist Church, 9th and Avenue E, Fort Madison with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, Farmington. A memorial has been established for her church and contributions may be left at Hofbauer Funeral Home.
