Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 6, at St. Agnes Church, Sawyer, with the Rev. Father Donald Suberlak C.R. as celebrant. Mrs. Springer was born on August 13, 1913, in Lakeside, to Ralph and Belia (DeMorrow) Brown, the second of 14 children. Her family lived in Muskegon for a brief time when she was an infant before moving back to Lakeside, where she lived for most of her life. She married John H. Springer on September 19, 1931 in New Buffalo. Mrs. Springer was employed by Gerwyn Industries, in Michigan City, Ind., for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Agnes Church in Sawyer. Mrs. Springer enjoyed crocheting and researching genealogy, but, most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include: her husband, John H. Springer of Lakeside; daughter-in-law, Norma I. Springer of Galien; granddaughter, Julie (John) Grynwich of New Buffalo; grandson, Lance C. (Amy) Springer of Galien; great-grandchildren Stephanie Grynwich, Kellie Springer, Dustin Springer, Isaac Grynwich, and Joshua , Springer; sisters --- VaLaura (Miles) Becvar of New Buffalo, Verniece (William) Russell of Lakeside, Verneita Kurina of Lakeside and Claudia Ostroski of Fennville. She was preceded in death by her son, John E. Springer on July 27, 1996; sisters -- Viola Payne, Vivian Cereske, Velma Brown, Verilla Springer, and Victoria Brown; and her brothers -- Victor, Vincent, Vernon, Virgil and Van."
