Description	:	Vera A. Kelly, 84, of Columbus died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Columbus. Vera was born Dec., 23, 1927, in Monroe to Albert and Jennie (Nelson) Stenzel. Vera was preceded in death by: husband, Hadley Kelly. Vera was preceded in death by: husband, Hadley Kelly. Survivors are: daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Sid Cook of Grand Island, Dian and Bill Carroll of Falls Church, Va.; a son, Ken Kelly of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters, Marge Mohrman of Columbus, Arlene Kummetz of Genoa; grandchildren, Brian Kelly, Chris (Sara) Kelly, all of Albuquerque, Eleanor Carroll of Las Vegas; great-grandchildren, Alexa and Jaxson Kelly of Albuquerque; special friends, Jeff, Ethel, Craig, and Amy Pekarek and a host of relatives and friends. Vera attended school in Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School. On April 10, 1946, Vera was united in marriage to Hadley Kelly in Belleville, Kan. They lived most of their lives in Columbus, except for a few years in York, when Hadley was working for N.P.P.D. Vera was a full-time wife and mother. Vera was an avid reader and a long time devoted fan of Nebraska Cornhusker football. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 3704, where she had been a volunteer. Vera was also preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Jennie Stenzel, and brother, Willis Stenzel. Interment was in the Roselawn Cemetery, Columbus, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on May 3, 2012
