Description	:	Marie Niner, 92, of Grinnell, a former resident of Brooklyn, died Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Mayflower. Funeral services were conduced Saturday at St. Patricks' Catholic Church in Brooklyn, with the Rev. Joe Rogers officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn, with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The daughter of Charles and Jessie Rayner Schaffer, she was born Sept. 17, 1904, in Watkins. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn, with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The daughter of Charles and Jessie Rayner Schaffer, she was born Sept. 17, 1904, in Watkins. She received her education in Canada and Norway, Iowa. She was married to Ray Niner Dec. 17, 1927, in Iowa City. They farmed in Iowa and Poweshiek counties. Mr. Niner died in 1949, and she moved to Brooklyn in 1952. She did housekeeping and worked in grocery stores until her retirement in 1971. In 1993, she moved to Grinnell to live with her daughter, Billie, until entering the Mayflower in April 1993. Mrs. Niner was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters. She had helped serve congregate meals. Surviving are three daughters, Kathleen Kriegel of Brooklyn, Billie Kriegel of Grinnell and Dorothy Loughry of Webster City; one son, Leo of Haverhill; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Ruth Dunn; one son, Charles; two sisters, Esther Kimm and Ruth Schaffer; and one grandson.
