Verley Edmonds, a 13 year-old girl, living in the north part of the county, was killed Monday morning by being dragged to death. She had been sent to Kirby on an errand by her mother and on her return home, it is supposed the horse took fright and ran, throwing her off. Edmonds, was thrown from the horse which she was riding and dragged a quarter of a mile until the horse stopped at their gate. She was returning from an errand at Kirby and lost her balance while the horse was in a gallop. She when seen was quickly released but gasped once or twice before she died. Almost all the clothing was torn from the child and from her waist up she was greatly bruised. . One arm was broken near the shoulder caused by the body dragging on the ground.
