Description	:	Vern was born to Charles Leo and Mabel Ovid Smith Sullivan. As a teenager, Vern quit school so he could help his parents make ends meet. He took a job at the Safeway store that was just across the street from their home. Vern worked hard all of his life and was known for his good work ethic. He married Donna Jean Day in Superior, Mont., on June 30, 1950. They lived in Spokane, where Vern helped Joe Albertson open his first four stores there. They later moved to Los Angeles, where Vern managed three classy restaurants. He was very proud... Read More	Vern was born to Charles Leo and Mabel Ovid Smith Sullivan. As a teenager, Vern quit school so he could help his parents make ends meet. He took a job at the Safeway store that was just across the street from their home. Vern worked hard all of his life and was known for his good work ethic. He married Donna Jean Day in Superior, Mont., on June 30, 1950. They lived in Spokane, where Vern helped Joe Albertson open his first four stores there. They later moved to Los Angeles, where Vern managed three classy restaurants. He was very proud of the work he did at The Century Restaurant, which was located across the street from the LAX airport and frequented by many stars of the time. Vern catered the wedding of Eddie Fisher and Elizabeth Taylor at his restaurant. In November 1970, Vern and Donna moved back to Colfax, where they owned and operated several restaurants over the years, including Sullivan's 195, the Korner Koffee Kup and Jay's. Later they operated Sullivan's in Palouse for a while. They moved to Clarkston in 1984 and Vern started one of the first lawn care businesses in the valley. It was called Valley Lawn Care. He loved helping his son, Scott, in his janitorial business in Clarkston and especially liked working at the fair. A special time for Vern turned out to be last April when he worked at the fair with his granddaughter, Chantel. Vern's hobby was working. He also attended Abundant Life Church in Clarkston and liked driving the church bus. The youngest of nine in the Charles Leo Sullivan family, Vern was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Catherine, Nita, Marie, Letha, Mabel, Chuck, Connie and Bonnie.
