Description	:	SABETHA -- Verna Lucille Eisenbise, 98, Sabetha, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at a Sabetha nursing home. Mrs. Eisenbise and her husband farmed north of Fairview until the middle 1980s. She also taught piano lessons. She was born Nov. 18, 1900, at Preston, Neb., the daughter of Charles Rieger and Louisa Schaible Rieger. She was raised east of Fairview and attended Fairview schools. Mrs. Eisenbise was a member of United Church of Christ in Fairview, where she also played the piano during the services. She married James S. Eisenbise on Feb. 21, 1920. He preceded her in death. She was born Nov. 18, 1900, at Preston, Neb., the daughter of Charles Rieger and Louisa Schaible Rieger. She was raised east of Fairview and attended Fairview schools. Mrs. Eisenbise was a member of United Church of Christ in Fairview, where she also played the piano during the services. She married James S. Eisenbise on Feb. 21, 1920. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Eisenbise also was preceded in death by a great- granddaughter, Julie Niehues. Survivors include a son, Charles Eisenbise, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Rosetta Bartram and Betty Hartter, both of Sabetha; a brother, Leslie Rieger, Manhattan; eight grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Burial will be in Sabetha Cemetery. Mrs. Eisenbise will lie in state at the mortuary until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University, or to the Sabetha Community Hospital, and sent in care of the mortuary.
