She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and sister in faith to her church family at Mt. Pleasant Mennonite Church. Read More	CHESAPEAKE, VA Verna Mae Tice Miller, 87, made the journey home to be with her Savior Wednesday, November 24, 2010. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and sister in faith to her church family at Mt. Pleasant Mennonite Church. Born January 30, 1923 in Somerset County, PA to the late Simon and Naomi Yoder Tice and was also predeceased by her sisters Catherine Tice and Elva Yoder. As a pastor's wife, Verna Mae frequently opened her home and heart to members of her church family and community through the years. There was always a place at her table for those who needed it. Her Christian example has left a lasting impression on many whose lives she touched over the years. While her caring and loving spirit will be missed, her family and friends rejoice that she now has fulfilled her lifelong quest to walk by the side of our Lord and Savior. Verna Mae devoted her life to her family and was the happiest when they were around her. She loved to cook and quilt and both her family and friends were blessed by her labors of love. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Rev. Philip E. Miller; daughters, Glenda Mosemann and husband Chris of Newport News; Donna Brubaker and husband Arnie of Sweet Home, Oregon, Fern Vazquez, Judi Leader and husband Jim and Mim Bailey and husband Bob, all of Chesapeake; thirteen grandchildren, Pam and husband Paul, Tonia and husband Eric, Phil, Dawn and husband Donnie, Jeff, Gloria and husband Shane, Shawn and wife Cheryl, Teresa, Chad and wife Emily, Melissa and husband Hadi, Kristen and husband Bobby, Rob, Amy and husband Jimmy; ten great-grandchildren, Olivia, Cameron , Rachel, Brooke, Brianna, Kayla, Naomi, Graecyn, Daniel, Truitt; her brother Rev. Alva Tice and wife Becky; her sister Evelyn Jost and husband Lee. The funeral service was conducted Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Mt. Pleasant Mennonite Church, 2041 Mt. Pleasant Road, Chesapeake. Rev. Sam Scaggs officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Arrangements were under the care and direction of the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.
