Description	:	Veronica Ann (Ronnie) Babb of 134 N. Sheridan passed away April 30, 2016, at Ottumwa Hospice House. She was born April 9, 1928, to Francis Henry and Edith Mier Schmitz. She lived her entire life in Ottumwa and attended Ottumwa Heights Academy. She was a wife, mother, homemaker and a lifelong member of St. Patrick's church, rarely missing a service. On June 19, 1948, she married the love of her life, John Babb, at St. Mary’s Church in Ottumwa with Father Broadrick officiating. They enjoyed nearly 58 years together. She was born April 9, 1928, to Francis Henry and Edith Mier Schmitz. She lived her entire life in Ottumwa and attended Ottumwa Heights Academy. She was a wife, mother, homemaker and a lifelong member of St. Patrick's church, rarely missing a service. On June 19, 1948, she married the love of her life, John Babb, at St. Mary’s Church in Ottumwa with Father Broadrick officiating. They enjoyed nearly 58 years together. They spent most winters traveling in their motor home to warmer climates where they enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ronnie especially enjoyed all types of car racing, and her favorite driver was her husband, Johnny Babb. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Steve and Leta of Ottumwa, Alan and Patty of Ottumwa and Bill and Jill of Flagstaff, Arizona; two daughters and their husbands, Rebecca and David Jones of Ottumwa and Barbara and Ronald Jones of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; a sister Geraldine Trier of Ankeny; and a sponsored child in Brazil. She was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; four brothers, Bill, George, Jack and Francis Schmitz; her sister Mary Young; and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Everingham Babb. In agreement with her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Father Patrick will perform a graveside service for the family at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties, 927 Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa Iowa in memory of Veronica.
