Description	:	Vica Mae Wood, a resident of Benkelman, Nebraska, passed away at the Dundy County Hospital Wednesday morning, Jan. 17, 1979. Vica was born on July 2, 1889 in Webster County, Missouri near Fordland, to William and Caroline Stinnett. Vica was united in marriage to Louis Warren Burgett on Sept. 23, 1908 at Marshfield, Missouri. To this union were born four daughters and a son. The family left Missouri and moved to Benkelman, Nebraska in the year of 1917, where they were employed by Andy Rosenfelt, on his Hereford cattle ranch, on Indian Creek. ... Read More	Vica Mae Wood, a resident of Benkelman, Nebraska, passed away at the Dundy County Hospital Wednesday morning, Jan. 17, 1979. Vica was born on July 2, 1889 in Webster County, Missouri near Fordland, to William and Caroline Stinnett. Vica was united in marriage to Louis Warren Burgett on Sept. 23, 1908 at Marshfield, Missouri. To this union were born four daughters and a son. The family left Missouri and moved to Benkelman, Nebraska in the year of 1917, where they were employed by Andy Rosenfelt, on his Hereford cattle ranch, on Indian Creek. Her husband Louis, after several months of illness passed away on Oct. 26, 1930. In Jan. 1935 Vica was married to Albert M. Wood, at Grant, Nebraska. They lived on his farm south of Benkelman, Nebraska, until the The Republican River Flood of 1935 destroyed their farm, which was located between the two rivers, and they and her daughter Lois, who was living with them barely escaped with their lives. They then moved into Benkelman where they lived for several years before moving to Loveland, Colorado where Albert worked as a young man. They fully enjoyed living near the mountains. When Mr. Wood's health began to fail, they returned to Imperial, Nebraska where he entered the Chase County Hospital, and sometime later passed away on July 2, 1958. Vica continued to live in Colorado until she needed to be near her family; so she again moved to Benkelman, Nebraska where she resided until the time of her passing. Survivors are: sister, Ava Schwab of Hamilton, Montana; daughters, Ethel Draper, and Cynthia Ellis of Benkelman, Nebraska and Lois Long of Spokane, Washington; son-in-law Dan Ellis of Benkelman, Nebraska; step-sons, Earl Wood of Benkelman, Nebraska, Claude Wood of Imperial, Nebraska and Glen Wood of Denver, Colorado; nine grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; step daughters-in-law, Maude, Laura and Marie; 7 step grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Vica was preceded in death by: parents; husbands, Louis Warren Burgett and Albert Martin Wood; brothers, Roy and Elmer; sisters, Mary, Cynthia and Susie, daughter, Margery Burgett; infant son, Louis Junior Burgett; sons-in-law, Earl Draper and Guy Long and one step great grandson. Vica was a member of the Methodist Church in Missouri as a girl, and lately she became an associate member of the Trinity Baptist Church were she attended.
