Notes by Percy Hisel prepared on September 2, 1934 for the Hisel family reunion gives the date as being January 8, 1844. Will split the difference for this entry and use January 8, 1842. This needs clarification, so be cautious when using this date. Victor may be buried under the "Dalmasse" French spelling of his surname. His American name was evidently changed to "Dalmas". At least two children are known of: Kathryn Dalmas Ament* and Adolph M Dalmas. Possibly a third/other child, Joseph, was born to them in 1877 or so, but this is unconfirmed at this point. (Update: information received from P.F. on Sept. 10, 2017 - "In noting the Find a Grave information for them, you mention a possible third child. I show the 3rd child to be Charles Dalmas (age 3 in the 1880 census with them in Marshall Tnsp, Louisa County, IA). I show that he was born 17 Aug 1876 (calculated from death) and died 11 Jul 1880 although the Louisa County Cemetery records show 1886 by mistake.") There are other "Dalmasse" burials in this cemetery; how and/or if they are related to Victor isn't known yet to this contributor.
