Description	:	Victor Knutson, 92, Minot, ND, formerly of rural Kenmare, ND, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018, in a Minot hospital. Victor Leander Knutson was born August 15, 1925, the son of Keith and Gunda (Johnson) Knutson, on the family farm in rural Norma, ND. He was raised and educated in rural Norma and attended the country school across from the family property into the ninth grade, when he left to work on the family’s farm. Read More	Victor Knutson, 92, Minot, ND, formerly of rural Kenmare, ND, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018, in a Minot hospital. Victor Leander Knutson was born August 15, 1925, the son of Keith and Gunda (Johnson) Knutson, on the family farm in rural Norma, ND. He was raised and educated in rural Norma and attended the country school across from the family property into the ninth grade, when he left to work on the family’s farm. Victor met Alma Dunderland while attempting to repair the heating system in the school on the river where she worked. He accidently blew out the fire he was attempting to fix, but the impression he made on Alma was lasting. Six months later the two were united in marriage on December 30, 1945 in Bottineau, ND. They made their home in rural Norma and from this union four daughters were born. Victor and Alma were grain farmers on the family farm until Victor retired in 1990. They moved to Minot in 1998. Victor was once a member and board member of Evanger Lutheran Church in rural Norma. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Minot until the flood of 2011, at which time he became a member of Zion Lutheran of Minot. Victor was a craftsman and spent numerous hours on woodworking projects in his shop. He made many bird houses that were hung all over the farm and every spring he would walk the property to clean them out. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, collecting flint and arrowheads and spending summers with the family on Lake Metigoshe. Victor also enjoyed traveling with Alma. Together, they visited many locations including Washington, D.C., Hawaii and a much cherished trip to the Holy Land in Jerusalem. Victor had a great sense of humor and was never one to complain. He was strong in his faith, and was raised to value this as the center of his family and community. He was someone that others would unanimously describe as a “good man”. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving family includes: Wife of 72 years, Alma Knutson, Minot; daughters, Luana Gilbert, Billings, MT, Audrey (Ron) Wirtz, rural Kenmare, Vicki (Rolly) Ackerman, Minot and Penny Brown, Billings, MT; grandchildren, Paula Montague, Becky Gilbert, Michael Gilbert, Corey Wirtz, Heidi Egeberg, Duncan Ackerman, Ryan Ackerman, Stacy Johnson, Brandy Hartman, Toni Walters and Jodi McDevitt; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Clifford (Phyllis) Knutson, Fergus Falls, MN; sisters, Jenny Gates, Minot and Florence Nesland, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Victor was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Tracy Wirtz; brothers, Silas, Casper and Knute Knutson; sisters, Beatrice Brekhus and Mildred Mugaas; and nephews, Eugene Knutson and Jim Mugaas. Funeral: Monday, April 9, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, ND. Interment: Evanger Lutheran Cemetery, Tolley, ND. Visitation: Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Memorials: are preferred to the Evanger Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
