Description	:	Victor Weyrich, 90, Sturgis, died Monday, September 13, 2010, at Sturgis Regional Senior Care. Vic was born January 25, 1920, in the original claim shack, near Volunteer, 20 miles east of Sturgis, SD, to Jacob and Margaret (Lorang) Weyrich. Read More	Victor Weyrich, 90, Sturgis, died Monday, September 13, 2010, at Sturgis Regional Senior Care. Vic was born January 25, 1920, in the original claim shack, near Volunteer, 20 miles east of Sturgis, SD, to Jacob and Margaret (Lorang) Weyrich. He grew up there and attended the Wolff School, about a mile from his home, through the 8th grade. Victor farmed with his uncle, Pete Lorang, and his father for several years. He met his life partner, Rose Knutson, a young school teacher from the Black Hills. On April 7, 1942, they made a trip to Broadus, MT, joined hands and were on their way to 68 years of marriage. As the years went on, they were joined by three boys and three girls. Victor self taught himself to operate several pieces of large earth moving equipment. Over the years, he built dams, roads, and loved to "play" with anything that moved dirt. He and Rose moved on from farming to Spearfish, SD, where they owned and operated the Kamp Kool Motel. This soon became boring to Vic, so he started a used furniture store and later opened a mobile home sales lot across the street from Kamp Kool. So the business outgrew the lot and Victor was off on another adventure. They bought land at Whitewood, SD, moved the mobile sales lot, added a service department, and built a mobile home park. Northern Hills Mobile Homes still operates today outside of Whitewood. Over the years, he bought, sold, or traded many items that he could make money on; if not, he had fun doing it. He loved auction sales and talking to people. He could fix anything and had ideas on millions of things to make life easier for everyone. The last four years, spent in Sturgis Regional Senior Care, was not easy for him or his family, and he is glad to go home to his Lord. Victor was a good husband, father, brother, and friend. He influenced all of our lives and will be greatly missed by everyone. He is survived by his wife, Rose, Rapid City; his children, Kay Carger, Rapid City, Betty (Gail) Fremont, Belgrade, MT, Victor (Corinne) Weyrich, Glendale, AZ, Pat Fippin, Rapid City, Jacob Weyrich, St. Onge, and Mike (Rea) Weyrich, Whitewood (Mike is currently deployed in Afghanistan). He is also survived by his brothers, Paul (Helen) Weyrich, Newcastle, WY, and Frank (Karen) Weyrich, Torrington, WY; his sisters, Louise Christensen, Mitchell, SD, Helen Komes, Sturgis, Gladys (Vern) Brown, Vale, SD, and Dorothy (Lynn) Dunn, Vale; his sister-in-law, Yvonne Weyrich, Pierre; ten grandchildren, Angie (Dan) Buckley, Bozeman, MT, Cory (Gina) Fremont, Tupelo, MS, JR (Susan) Weyrich, McIntosh, NM, Cheri (Anthony) Weathersby, Avondale, AZ, Melissa Carger, Greg (Lori) Fippin, and Kelli (Tyler) Jurgens, all of Rapid City, and Tyler, Keegan, and Dexter Weyrich of Whitewood; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sisters; one infant son; two sisters, Clara Knutson and Mary Rosser; one brother, Leo Weyrich; son-in-law, Dennis Fippin; and two brother-in-laws, Roy Christensen and Joe Komes. A memorial has been established to Suncatchers Therapeutic Riding Academy and the new Whitewood Community Hall. Visitation will be Thursday, September 16th from noon until 9:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with a celebration of life service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 17, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery. A lunch will be provided at St. Francis of Assisi Church Hall following the interment.
