Read More	Vietta Marie Stauffer was born on August 20, 1917 on a farm north of Milford, Nebraska to Elmer and Ida (Birky) Stutzman, the third of four girls and passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at the Sunrise Country Manor near Milford at age of 89 years, 3 months and 29 days at Sunrise Country Manor near Milford. As a young girl she attended country school District #73 near Milford. In her youth she accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized in October of 1931 at East Fairview Mennonite Church wher she became a long-time member. As a young woman, she worked as a mother's helper until her marriage to Sterling M. Stauffer on March 28, 1936. To this union four children, Robert, Darlene, Joyce and Gary were born. Together they made their home on farms north of Milford where she was a busy mother and homemaker, taking care of her children. Like many in her day, she and her husband together did various farm chores, which included growing crops and shucking corn, raising chickens and other farm animals, and growing a garden to help feed the family. They retired from farming and moved into Milford in 1958 where she continued her love of flowers, raising roses and creeping phlox around her patio. Vietta cleaned houses for many people in Lincoln, Seward and Milford and along with Sterling, they cleaned the Crete Carrier offices in Lincoln. She was a very loving, caring mother and grandmother, strong in her faith and enjoyed spending time with all her family especially the grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren. In her later years, Vietta enjoyed going on walks around town and quilting at the Milford Senior Center. Vietta is survived by her children and spouses, Robert and Shirley Stauffer, Seward, Darlene and Kenneth Steckly, Garden City, MO, Joyce and Stanley Stutzman, Milford, Gary and Glennice Stauffer, Leo, IN, thirteen grandchildren and spouses, Rick and Wanda Stauffer, Mike Stauffer, Kim and Kurt Stuart, Tami and Todd Coffey, Randy and Malinda Steckly, Lori and Paul Hernandez, Scott and Deena Steckly, Debbie and Kevin Masten, Jim and Beth Stutzman, Patty Bittinger, Doug and Jill Stutzman, Mark Stauffer, Cindy and Matt Lehn, 27 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Kathryn Stauffer, Milford, Phoebe Burkey, Middlebury, IN, Dora Stauffer, Nampa, ID, Dorothy Stauffer, Milford, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, Verda Busboom, Elva Roth, and Edith Stutzman, brothers-in-law, Emmett Busboom, John Roth, Wesley Stutzman, Harry Stauffer, Ezra Stauffer, Edward Stauffer and Warren Burkey. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2006 at East Fairview Mennonite Church with Pastors Bill Saltzman and Anthony Troyer officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Memorials have been established to Gospel Echoes Prison Ministry or Peoples City Mission of Lincoln. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Rick Stauffer, Mike Stauffer, Randy Steckly, Scott Steckly, Jim Stutzman, Doug Stutzman, and Mark Stauffer. Honorary Pallbearers were her granddaughters, Kim Stuart, Tami Coffey, Lori Hernandez, Debbie Masten, Patty Bittinger and Cindy Lehn.
