Born and raised in Freeburg, he is the son of the late August and Elizabeth (Reinkemeyer) Brune. He attended Holy Family School and graduated from Freeburg High School in 1944. He grew up on the family farm in the 1930's learning frugality and a strong work ethic. He is the eldest of 5 children including three brothers, Alfred "Fritz", Emil "Butch" and Hubert (deceased 2012) and one sister, Marie Kempker. An older brother, Leonard, died at birth. He was united in marriage on September 18, 1951 to Lucille (Fitzpatrick) Brune at St. Aloysius Church in Argyle. Vince and Lou were married for 61 years. He worked for the MFA #280 in Freeburg for over 25 years in the office, plumbing, electrical and grocery departments. He continued his career as an assistant cashier and later as loan officer at the Bank of Freeburg for 36 years retiring in 2006. Vince was a member of the Holy Family Parish Council and Administration Commission and a member and treasurer of the Msgr. Gerold Kaiser Council #9700 of the Knights of Columbus. He served on the Holy Family Parish Cemetery Committee, was a money counter, and a Eucharistic Minister. He was also on the Osage County Democratic Committee. Vince and Lou are the parents of four children and have seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchilden. Children include daughter Mary Beth Otto and husband Tom of Osage Beach; daughter Diane Plassmeyer and husband Chip of Colorado Springs; son Larry Brune and wife Ellen of Osage Beach; son Kenny Brune (deceased 1990) and former wife Barb and husband Greg Gordon of Holts Summit. Grandchildren include Curt Plassmeyer and family of Carey, Idaho; Christine Head and family of Osage Beach; Angie Matthewman and family of Colorado Springs; Sarah Darmitzel and family of Kansas City; Matt Brune of Walla Walla, Washington; Teresa Otto of Kansas City and Peter Brune of Columbia. Honorary grandchildren include Austin and Erin Gordon of Holts Summit. Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2013 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with visitation preceding the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. The Rev Phil Niekamp will celebrate the mass of Christian burial. A reception will follow graveside services on Saturday, February 23, at the American Legion Hall in Freeburg.
