Description	:	Vine E. Lipps, 95, of Jefferson, OH, died Sunday, February 1, 2015. She was born July 1, 1919 in Cherry Valley, Ohio, the daughter of Frank L. and Bernice E. (Tilton) Petrie. Lipps, 95, of Jefferson, OH, died Sunday, February 1, 2015. She was born July 1, 1919 in Cherry Valley, Ohio, the daughter of Frank L. and Bernice E. (Tilton) Petrie. Her interest in one of the Lipps brothers started in her early teens and that interest never waivered as on June 21, 1940, Leonard and Vine were married at the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church. Vine graduated from Kent State where she earned her teacher degree in 1939. She returned to Cherry Valley and obtained a position teaching in a one-room school house with grades 1-8 earning $48 per month. She continued teaching for 38 years. Over the years, Vine had many interests serving as a Sunday School teacher, 4-H Advisor, Covered Bridge volunteer; was a member of the Antique Engine Club, Retired Teachers Association, American Red Cross Blood Drives, and Jefferson Historical Society. She was honored to receive the Senior Center of the Year Award for the Jefferson Community Center and the Distinguished Service Award at the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene in 2008. Vine is survived by her three children, Larry (Janet), Bart (Pam), and Linda (Jim) Hall. She was a loving grandma to eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews. Visiting with her was always an inspiration to her family and friends as she always took the time to listen and comfort. Vine was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 1989, and her sister, Mae in 1993. Vine loved people and through her last years of health issues she continued sharing her gifts of a smile, a positive outlook and a hug for everyone. To her the gift of being in her 90's was positive time to cherish the past, bask in her memories and know in her heart that the future was in God's hands. Vine loved flowers during her lifetime, but her desire would be to donate to the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene or another church of choice in her memory. Calling hours will be on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, 55 Satin St., Jefferson,OH. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6th at 11:00 AM at the church. A private burial will take place in Hayes Cemetery, Wayne township, OH.
