She and her husband Charlie had two daughters - Charlene and Miriam. Vinnie was a 1922 graduate of Anderson College. During her years at Anderson College she was active in the Lanier Literary Society, the YWCA and the Baptist Young People's Union (BYPU). After graduation she became a school teacher. The following announcement appeared in the May 12, 1925 Newberry SC Observer: Garner, Charles Davis Rev. of Union SC will marry Ms. Vinnie Rebecca Sanders daughter of T. R. Sanders of Old Town in June. The bride teaches School at Glenn Springs and the groom is the pastor of the Baptist Church in Union. Observer 5/12/1925, p8 She is buried next to her husband and two children: Her daughter Charlene was killed in the December 18, 1946 Train-Bus tragedy that took the lives of 11 children and the Bus Driver near Silver Street. Her second born daughter Miriam was badly injured in the accident and was never able to walk again. Vinnie cared for Miriam the rest of her life in their home in Silverstreet.
