Viola died Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Niobrara Valley Hospital in Lynch. Viola (also known as Violet and Vi) Doreen (Klasna) (Kinney) Heiser, daughter of Ernest and Sylvia (Sixta) Klasna was born March 30, 1937, in Lynch, Nebraska. Vi attended rural school and graduated from Spencer Public School in 1955. During and after high school Vi went to Wayne State College and also took courses from the University of Nebraska. She taught at rural schools for five years. In 1956, Vi married Dennis Kinney. They divorced in 1962. On June 15, 1963, Vi married Gail Heiser at Spencer, Nebraska. Gail was involved in the farm industry. In 1965, they bought a farm of their own southwest of Monowi, Nebraska and after doing lots of remodeling of the cattle yards, house, etc., they moved into their present home in 1967. Gail and Vi lived on this farm for 63 years. In the 1970’s they became the parents of three sons, Galen, Casey, and Trent. Gail and Vi raised their family on their farm southwest of Monowi, where they raised livestock and farmed the cropland. In 1995, after the boys grew up, Vi decided to become a CNA and worked at Alpine Village Nursing Home in Verdigre, Nebraska. For 17 and a half years Vi enjoyed working with the staff and residents and enjoyed the social time there. It was an interesting experience for Vi, but she finally decided to retire due to lots of leg problems. Some of Vi’s interests included playing the piano and her accordion. She loved crossword and sudoku puzzles and reading. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, and crafts. Vi was also active in The Harmony Club, The Helping Hands Club, and loved to play cards. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was very proud of her family and grandchildren. Vi is survived by her sons, Galen (Tammy) of Stuart, Casey (Mandy) of Lynch, and Trent (Jennifer) of Lincoln; grandchildren, Anthony, Dawson, and Collin of Stuart, Shelby and Samantha of Lynch, and Traven of Lincoln; brother, Norman (Mary) Klasna of Nevada; sister-in-law, Dolores Heiser of Lynch; brother-in-law, Gary (Charlise) Heiser of California; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Sylvia Klasna; and husband, Gail Heiser. Vi wishes were to have no visitation or services. She requested to have her body donated to Medical Science at Vermillion, South Dakota. Her remains will be buried in the National Cemetery near Spencer and in the Alford Cemetery near Monowi. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
