Hasvold, 87, of Flandreau, died Friday, Oct 31, 2003 at Riverview Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Viola was born April 6, 1916 at Forest City, IA to Andrew and Myrtle Halverson Colvin. The family moved south of Flandreau and she graduated from Egan High School. Viola married Harlan Hasvold on May 11, 1938 at Madison. They farmed in Clare Township in Moody County and moved into Flandreau in 1970. She was a nurse's aide at the Flandreau Hospital for many years and also worked as a home health aide. Her husband preceded her in death on March 23, 1996. She became a resident at Riverview in March of this year. Viola was a former member of Clare Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and school superintendent for many years. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, WELCA, the Busy Bee Club, Birthday Club and charter member of the Clare Extension Club. Survivors include two sons: Donald (Sharon) of Cheyenne, WY and Roger (Elizabeth) of Flandreau; one daughter: Janet (Larry) Morrison of Redfield; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, her parents, her twin sister Violet, her brother Harry and two half-sisters, Iva and Louise. Services were held Tuesday, November 4, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Mary A. Sacco officiating. Burial is in Clare Cemetery, Clare Township. Pallbearers were her grandchildren: Kris Wren, Donnie Morrison, Donnie Hasvold, William Hasvold, Daniel Morrison, Allan Hasvold, Brent Hasvold, Carrie Hasvold, Genevieve Hasvold, Heather Hasvold and Jessica Hasvold.
